Looking for a professional camera.

I am looking into getting into photography. I am an artist and have a good eye for beauty, but have never gotten into photography other than my little point and shoot. I want to get into photography, but need some advice as far as a nice camera. I have been looking at Nikon D200's and possibly buying a used one in good condition. Any suggestions?

I am definitely not qualified to answer this question...but here it goes. I have a P80 Nikon. Loving it. I'm really into taking photos, but I’m really amateur. This camera looks nice and it didn't cost a fortune. $200 on amazon.com (refurbished).

This is a great website that allows you to research cameras. I quite liked being able to compare multiple cameras to each other.

I have friends you are great at photography, They suggested to me a Nikon D60. You might be able to find a used D40 which they said is basically the same.
