I have decided that for Christmas I want to make kind of a deluxe "craft" box for my dd. Has anyone out there tried to create there own kit on the cheap. I have stocked up on all kinds of markers, crayons, and pencils at the back to school sales. I was thinking of getting a tackle box or something to orginize everything. Another option would be to get one of those big metal trunk things and then I could make little orginizational compartments then she could lock it and keep her 2 yo-brother out of it. I just wondered if anyone has any thoughts??

I color cheap pasta with food coloring/alcohol to use in art projects for Parker.
We also use LOTS of tissue paper and felt which you can buy for pennies at yard sales. Or you can get the bolt ends of felt at Wally World for cheaper than the squares.
YARN, baby.
Chalk.
For a fun activity, wet your paper BEFORE you watercolor on it.
Pipe cleaners. Stocked up at yard sales this summer.
Start stashing away fun textures and colors regardless of their mediums. A little piece of sandpaper? A great color of red on a magazine page? A wee piece of burlap? Material scraps? Wrapping paper? Funky milk lid? Fake jewles? Plastic beads? Save it up and put it to use later!
www.discountschoolsupply.com is a GREAT place to get ideas for the ultimate art box!

Check DI and thrift stores for a tackle boxes or caboodle carriers. I see them all the time; most are in new condition! Sterilite stacking drawers would work great, too. I have found fun stamps, stickers, and paper at the Dollar Store. Good Luck!!
