This is what works for me.
Daily: 30 min at the end of the day I start in the kitchen and work my way through the house. I everynight vaccume once everyone is in bed. (Im a little crazy!)
Weekly:
Monday: mop floors
Tuesday: Clean Windows
Wednesday: Dust
Thursday: Organize something that has been left out of order.
Good Luck once you find something that works for you it makes life so much easier!

Make a routine. Everyone's priorities are a little different. Just choose a day that you take care of the things that drive you crazy. And everyday pick up the clutter and make sure your house looks nice before you go to bed. I ALWAYS wake up in a better mood if my house is clean! This works for me. :toothy4: :toothy4:

When my kids were little I had a daily chore chart on my fridge for each child. I would change the chores weekly so they wouldn't get bored or mad about having to do one chore all the time. I used a magnetic dry erase board! Each child would help me for 20-30 minutes per day. That gave me an extra 60-90 minutes of time for my own chores and helped out alot.
I rewarded all of them with an allowance every Friday and also a Special Day once a month if they completed their chores without throwing fits or having me remind them to finish each day. Special Days included: Going to the Movies, Ice Cream sundae parties, Sleepovers at our house with all their friends, Building something with their Dad like their playhouse.
At the beginning- I had my children ages 2-5 doing chores appropriate for their ages or helping Mommy with some of her chores and with my help.
A 2 yr old can fold washcloths or separate spoons, forks and knives to put in the utensil drawer. They love to pick up toys and put them in a toy box if you make it into a game for them.
Believe me if you start them out while they are young, you won't regret it when they are teenagers and want money for a Movie or CD's.
Check out flylady.net...she has a great system.

I really have enjoyed Marie's ideas, she has a website http://www.houseoforder.com/ (http://www.houseoforder.com), she teaches continuing education classes in Utah County and will be a presenter on her cleaning ideas at BYU's Education Week. I really love her card system as well as her meal planning ideas. You've never met a more organized or frugal lady than this!

Flylady is great. She really emphasizes using a timer. It amazed me how much faster I got things done when I was timing myself.

Use whatever method you figure out works best for you to GET your house clean. And from there, just maintain it.....using whatever system works best for you. I know it's a lot easier said than done, but really, it's just as easy to MAINTAIN a clean house as it is a messy one, ya know. A big mess can be so overwhelming, but once it's all clean, cleaning it as you go can be pretty easy.

I have a rule that you don't leave a room without picking up after yourself. If you brought in a book or a cup or plate or shoes or a game or WHATEVER and you are done with it and leaving the room(even if it's just to run to the bathroom),you take it with you and place it in it's proper place. This helps me out alot, the kids are more likely to put things away when it's just 1 or 2 things then if I were to let them leave things out that turns into an overwhelming pile.Works for my husband to.lol

Only thing is , i started on a friday and now i won't get any untill monday. But it is a good thing to because i need this weekend to get my house cleaned before i start getting it cleaned....LOL

LOL. It's true, I'll admit it, I am a freak of nature! Just a tad on the OCD side.....and one of my children already shows tendencies. Ha ha. My two favorite things are laundry and vacuuming. I just bought a Dyson (YAY!!!) and have been a vacuum-maniac for the past week....in between loads of laundry of course. I just drove up to my mom's house this morning and vacuumed her house! I really need help....

We too are a little OCD.. Like tue my oldest son went to get a haircut.. He took his own comb.. It did not matter that they were using the same scissors that they use on every one.. Just that they did not use the same comb..
As far as house cleaning goes.. I too am OCD but it only falls on certain things.. I wish i could have ocd on everything in the house and leave all the other stuff out.. There are different ways to get to my house.. I always take the same one.. Drives my hubby crazy.. And about 20 more things ..LOL but at least i can laugh about it.. I think i will make a post.. I wonder if there are any more of us out htere.. ???

Yes, it drove me crazy. I finally blocked flylady.

You can have all of flylady e-mails sent once a day. It is so much more managable and less overwhelming for me. Just go to her website and chose to have them once a day.

My new goal is to clean where I am. So, if my kids are taking a bath I can clean the sink, counter, and toilet. If my kids are eating lunch, I unload the dishwasher, scrub the stove, ect. If my kids are playing in the family room I can put away the left out movies and DH shoes, ect. As you can tell, I have little kids, but this way I am with them, chatting with them, and still manage to get 1 or 2 things done. Then there are those times when I put on a movie and hide in the kitchen to have 15 minutes to play on PYP!

I really needed this post. I was wondering who I could ask and not be embarassed. My mom didn't have an organized house and so I have never seen how someone fits cleaning into their day. I just didn't know how was the best way - spreading it out or doing it all at once. I tried Flylady but quickly over whelmed with all the email. Thanks for all your tips and the original post! :goteam3:
