Dh says white lights are boring, I think they're classy and easier to decorate with - so I thought it would be fun to do a poll and see what everyone else thinks. Dh got his way this year and colored it is! He even bought the big colored lights that are for outdoors, LOL. Reminds me of the '80s when I was growing up, but it's great to see him having fun with it.

It depends on my mood that year. I have both just in case!

I like the look of white lights on the tree with all the colorful ornaments, but we put color around the windows.

We have our large tree (fake) and it is fiber optic. We can choose to have all white or multi color but the multi is more of a pastel I don't know how to better explain it but it's very pretty. Then I have a small 4 footer in the kitchen corner that I bought several years ago at Michaels for $20. I put multis on that and decorate with completely different colored ornaments. It's really quick to decorate too since it's so small. I like having colored and white lights at different times.

We prefer the white and have red Christmas bulbs. I kind of have a red and white theme with all of the stockings traditional red and white with everyones names embroidered on the top. My family always had colored growing up.

We are a white light family. I like it because it seems more romantic to me, but my parents have colored. My SIL has colored as well because her DH is adamant about it. It really makes me laugh.

I think white is pretty and classic but we always had colored in my house growing up so colored it is! I think one day when i get a big fancy house i want to have a "themed" tree with white lights and then a fun tree when all types of decorations on it with colored lights.

It seems like every house on my block has white lights on their trees and white Icicle Lights on the outside......boring!

We are going back to Multi-colored lights on the tree and adding other colored lights over our Icicle lights on the outside. We like to shake things up in our neighborhood.

I am all for white lights on the tree. To me it makes it seem more elegant. However I like outside to be festive so we usually do colored lights. This year though is our first year in a house so we were not sure how outside would look with all multi colored lights and the windows were done in multi colored lights as well. To me it seems almost too much. So next year we will do the windows with white lights but the rest will be multi colored.

We have white lights on our tree, but my kids each have their own tree and colored it is on theirs. Outside our house is covered with colored lights. Our deer are all white, but everything else is bright with color!

I like the white lights on the tree because I can pretend they are candles, the way trees were lit way back when. But, I much prefer colored lights outside . . . especially solid colored strands or red, green and white strands.

:magic: We like lots of colors on our tree, it goes well with all the random ornaments we have collected since we were young.

However, this year we have -2- trees so one we are doing in all white and silver just to see which we prefer. So we have our colorful christmas tree and our "department store looking" Christmas tree :)

Actually what's tacky is when you send your dh to get white lights this year cause it's your turn (he likes colored) and he gets white lights but they also are white wires instead of green!

I use white lights. Better to go with the change of decorations i get each year. Plus our pre lite tree is white lights. LOL

IMHO, White lights are so sterile and plain. They are usually on trees that are decorated by a design and aren't real family trees. Colored are fun and go well with home made decorations and the motley assortment you have from years of giving, getting and making ornaments.

I can't vote because I do both.

I had a roommate who would put a string of lights down the very center of the tree, wrapping around the trunk and then put the rest on the tree like everyone else did. I Can't for the life of me remember whether she put the colored in the middle of the white lights. So this year I did colored down the middle and white lights throughout the rest of the tree. I am a little neurotic though and I only like blue and purple and sometimes green colored lights. So I have changed all my strings to reflect that. So I have a short string of blue and purple lights wrapped around the turnk and then white lightsthroughout the rest of the tree. Very elegant with a smatering of color.
