Anyone taking the plunge?

I know we're supposed to wait to plant until Mother's Day, or May 20th, or whatever, but the 10 day forecast shows good weather until May 11th. I'm tempted to go out and plant this week. Anyone else doing the same?

Seeds are almost always safe, because they will be in the ground for 7-14 more days.

A few things like basil really don't like the cold so I hold off on those.

DH wants to, but I'm holding off for the traditional Mother Day wknd.

I use to be willing to push it and plant early. However having lost some crops and having to go buy more has made me a little less daring. I'm still debating what I am going to do but I'll probably hold off cause the cold killed a few plants in my greenhouse last week. So I guess I am waiting till next Thursday and then I'll decide what I am going to do.

We took the plunge and so far have survived. (knock on wood, please)
I agree that planting seeds at the moment is not very risky, but squash, cucumbers, melons, tomatoes could be depending on what happens in the next two weeks.

Looks like this weekend will be on the colder side. If your starting seeds I think you will be fine but I wouldn't put out any tender starts until next week at the earliest.

We took the plunge a week ago and so far things are good. Normally I wait til after mothers day but this year I wanted to try early and see how things do.

The day time temps look pretty good from here but the night temps are still in mid to late 40's or early 50's. Is that too cold for tomatoes or does it just need to stay above freezing?

They say for sure --- wait till after mother's day, but we have had tomatoes in for a few weeks, the colder tempatures will sometimes stunt their growth.
