You don't have to pay tax, however you have to put your foods in the containers and seal them up there, you don't just go in and pick up items like you would at a store.

Default Lindon Cannery

There is a Cannery in Lindon it's mostly "wet" pack items for storage. Salsa, Ham and Beans, Jams. I did frozen fruit last year Blackberries in a 4 pond zip lock and paid $6.00 per conatiner. I thought that was an excellent deal. The berries were the size of small pinecones! The cannery only allows you to buy a certain amount when you sign up to donate your time. The dry packs you can go and make what you want. the wet packs you have to donate your time and help out the cannery for about 1 to 2 hours depending on the items they are making that week.

Default Utah County Cannery

We just opened the Springville Cannery.. We are open on Mondays from 9-2, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9-6 (you just need to be there by 6 but you can stay until 8:30 if you are canning) We are located in the West Fields right by Walmart. The phone number is 491-7359 if you have any questions.

There are no more sign up times, you can come anytime. You do not need to be a member of the church to take advantage of the low prices. Here is a link to the price list: Link to Price List

Please come, there are lots of missionary's to help you anytime.

I think this is such a great idea! I think that having at least a year's worth of food storage is smart. I believe a lot can be learned from the church.

I've bought my own products and canned them at our stake canning facility (with the cannery's cans)

They will no longer allow you to bring in your own products. Anything you can at an LDS cannery needs to be purchase from the cannery *at the time you can it* This is to insure that no weevil's or other such creatures are inadvertantly brought into the cannery.

I know you can't take food items to the cannery to can anymore - but if your STAKE has a place for canning, you CAN go to the cannery, get the cans, take the cans and your own products to your STAKE cannery, and can them there. Like with the quaker deal - the oatmeal was a great price and we're doing a canning activity in 2 weeks....

You can also borrow a canner and can your own things at home. They have a list of recommended and not recommended things (i.e. high moisture that would spoil).

I don't know how many of the canneries have them, but I know the one in Kaysville has 3 for the cans and 4-5 for the pouches you can check out and do your stuff at home. In Kaysville, the wait is until March for the cans, but you can get a pouch one almost anytime. You check them out on a Friday and have to have it back by 10 AM Monday morning or check it out on Monday and have it back Friday morning at 10 AM.
