I've seen ballet shoes at Payless Shoe Source...

You can get black leotards at Wal-Mart for under $10 - long sleeved or short sleeved. Very basic.
If you haven't already checked with your ballet studio, they may require a certain type of ballet shoes. Ours does, so places like Payless are not an option. Pat's Dance Wear in Bountiful has a big selection and is helpful - but the prices will probably be similar to your ballet studio. |

In my experience the studio has been the lowest price for shoes. Payless has them for $19.99. One of my girls studio sells them (ballet, tap and jazz) for $13 each and the other $11. Much better even after a 20% coupon or something at Payless.
Leotards- I usually get mine at thrift stores Like DI or Savers and pay around $3. I've bought a few from Target on clearance for about the same, $3-$4. |

You know what, you're right. I don't think I've paid more than about $13 either for a pair yet. (Next year is pointe though... OUCH!) |

I watch Target clearance for leotards (which may not be an option for you if you need them now) and usually pay $3-$4 each. DD's dance class requires certain shoes so they were cheaper than Payless.

Younger kids grow to fast and used is the way to go, just check on the wear and tear, for pointe you will want to buy new. (think bleeding toes, seriously and they wear more to the form of the person) |

Yep pointe is pretty pricey! We got DD's at Pat's in Bountiful, they are really good at working with the girls.
