Default Charlie Horse in top of feet and shin. HELP!

I am about 30 weeks pregnant. I get charlie horses all the time in my calves and bottoms of my feet. Well the past few weeks I have been getting them on top of me feet, up my shin, etc. When I try to relieve them and point my foot straight down (since it is on top of my foot) it causes one on the bottom of my foot and up my calf. This cycle can go on for an hour of causing another one just to relieve the first one. They are so so painful. I get between 2 and up to about 40 (this was a very very bad night where they just never really stopped) separate occurences a night. Help!! What can I do? Walking sometimes helps a little but then when I lay down they are right back again.

When I get these I put my foot and leg in the bathtub and run hot water over them. It sometimes takes 5 or so minutes, but it usually works for me.

Try eating more bananas. You might need potassium.

I have been taking a calcium, vitamin d, magnesium supplement for a few months now, plus a prenatal, and I eat lots of potassium foods. This is making me crazy. I swear last night it was easier to keep track of the time I didn't have these pains than it was to count how many I got. It was just ongoing all night. It's been weeks since I got any sleep. Is it still a charlie horse if it is on top and sides of my feet and up my shin?

Isn't pregnancy just so much fun? My husband likes a hot water bottle for his feet and calves to help keep the cramps away. You could also try taking a few tablespoons of blackstrap molasses every day. It's really high in iron, calcium, magnesium and other good stuff. I have to say, though, that I'm not sure if anything does any good when you're pregnant. You just have to endure until the baby gets here and relieves you of the pain.

My dad drinks apple cider vinegar in his lemonade during the day and it prevents him from getting them at night. He says it has taken them away but if he doesn't drink it he gets them again. You could do a search on apple cider vinegar and leg cramps. I read a few other people's experiences and they said it helped them too.

My husband has occasional trouble with leg cramps and the best solution we have found is to use a handheld electric massager. I think ours is a homedic brand (?) not sure. I think we bought it at Sam's club several years ago.
Maybe you could find someone who has one and borrow it for the remainder of of your pregnancy. Good luck.
