By combining store coupons, manufacturer coupons and rebates you can not only get a lot of free stuff at Walgreens but actually make a profit from it! Hopefully, this thread will show you how to do that but if you still have a question please post it as others may have the same question.
Walgreens now offers a lot of Register Rewards (RR) in their ads. For answers to your questions about Register Rewards, please see posts #59 and #65 in this thread. What's an Easy Saver catalog and how do I get one? The Easy Saver is Walgreens monthly rebate book. You can get one at the front of the store by the weekly ads. I usually pick up two. One to carry with me and to cut coupons from. I use it for reference to make sure I'm getting the correct items for the rebates. The other I leave at home on my desk and put all of my receipts for the month in it so it's easy to find everything when I'm ready to send it in. Are the weekly ad and the Easy Saver the same thing? No. The weekly ad gives the sales and coupons for that week. The Easy Saver has the rebates and coupons for the month. What's an Instant Value coupon? The coupons that are in the Easy Saver. I refer to them both as Instant Value (IV) coupons and Easy Saver (ES) coupons. These coupons are good for the entire rebate period. What's a 7 day coupon? A coupon from Walgreens newspaper ad that is good only for that week (Sunday through Saturday). Can I use both an IV coupon or 7-day coupon AND a manufacturer's coupon on the same product? Yes. The IV or 7-day coupon is a store coupon and can be combined with a manufacturer's coupon. Can I use coupons on rebate items? Yes, you can use a store coupon or a manufacturer's coupon or both. If I use a coupon on a rebate item, what amount will I get for the rebate? You'll get the amount that is shown on your receipt next to the item (or the maximum rebate amount if it's less than the price of the item). For example, an item rings up $2 and you use a coupon for $1 off. You'll get a rebate for $2 even though you actually only paid $1. If I need to buy a certain amount of a brand to get the rebate (such as buy $10 Proctor & Gamble, get a $5 rebate), is that amount before or after coupons? The products need to add up to the qualifying amount before any coupons are applied. Can I use 2 coupons on buy 1 get 1 free items? Usually. If it's BOGO with a 7-day coupon there should be no problem using 2 manufacturer's coupons on the same item. If it's BOGO without a coupon the first item will ring up regular price and the second will ring up $0. In this situation it varies depending on your store or your cashier since the cashier has to manually enter the coupon. Does Walgreens take internet printed coupons? Policies vary by store and by area. Ask at your local store to see if they'll take them or not. Can I use an Instant Value coupon on more than one of the same item? If so, do I need more than one IV coupon? Most IV coupons state that you can only use them on one, but in my experience there's no limit. You only need one coupon regardless of how many of the item you buy. How many times can I do each rebate? Most rebates can only be done once, but read the details in the Easy Saver. Some rebates have higher limits. Can I do both a Walgreens rebate and a manufacturer's rebate (or rebate from another store) on the same item? Yes. Many times there are manufacturer or other store rebates for the same items. Walgreens rebate items must be purchased at Walgreens. You must purchase another of the item separately and get a separate receipt to send in for any other rebate. Walgreens will not accept copies or duplicate receipts and most manufacturer rebates won't either. (In other words, to get both rebates you'll need to buy 2 of the item.) Do I need to send UPCs? Not usually. Walgreens very rarely asks for UPCs but check the details of each rebate to be sure. Can I send in more than one Easy Saver rebate form? No. You can only send one form per month, so make sure you've purchased all of the rebate items you're going to buy for the month before you send the form. When do I need to send my rebate? The Easy Saver begins on the first Sunday of the month and ends on the last Saturday. Items must be purchased between these dates. Check the dates on the catalog to be sure of the exact dates. You have approximately a week to send in the rebates after the last purchase day. Again, check the catalog to see what day it needs to be postmarked by. It will be stated in large print on the rebate form. How long does it take to receive my rebate? I get this question a lot and I'm not really sure of the answer. Any time something has to be sent through the mail it takes longer. I get a gift card reload in approximately 2 weeks. The first time you do the rebates it will take longer because you'll be sent either a gift card or check depending on your preference. After that, if you choose to receive your rebate by check it will take a little longer than if you have them put it on your existing gift card. Where can I check the status of my rebate? You can check your status and also see the current month's rebate items at http://www.walgreens.com/store/rebateclub.jsp How do I get a 10% bonus? If you choose to receive your rebate by gift card instead of check, an extra 10% of your rebate will be added on. For example, if your rebate is $40 you can receive a $40 check or a gift card worth $44. Occasionally a rebate will be excluded from the 10% bonus. If so, it will say so in the details in the Easy Saver. What do the abbreviations you use mean? There's a great list of couponing abbreviations in this thread: http://www.pinchingyourpennies.com/...hread.php?t=587 Online Rebate Submission How can I submit my monthly rebate online? You can submit your rebate HERE. You'll need to be registered on the site. Do I need to wait until I've done all my shopping to submit my rebate? You can add receipts throughout the month, but can still only submit your rebate ONCE. When you get to the final step, the site will warn you of this so you don't need to worry about accidently going too far into the process and not being able to submit the rest of your rebates. Do I need to send in my receipts if I submit online? You don't need to mail anything if you submit online, but it's a good idea to keep your receipts until your rebate has been processed. If you need to contact them about a rebate you should've received and didn't they'll want information from your receipt. Will I still be able to choose my favorite way of receiving my rebate? You'll still have the choice of receiving a new gift card, a check or adding the balance to an existing gift card. Gift cards still receive a 10% bonus.

I have never even stepped into a Walgreens, so this is all new to me. Thanks for all the great info. I have just one more question. Can I use a coupon on items that will be free after rebate in the EasySaver? For example, this month they have a rebate for the purchase price paid on Fructis hairstyling products. Can I use a coupon for that item? If so, will they refund me the original price or the price after the coupon? I noticed they don't refund sales tax.

Yes, you can use a coupon on the Free After Rebate (FAR) items and you receive the price paid before the coupon (not including sales tax), therefore resulting in some overage. In addition, if you select to receive your rebate in the form of a gift card you get an additional 10%. HTH

When I got my easysaver book this month, I went through my coupons and matched them up. Is this what others do? If something in the book doesn't come on sale by the end of the month, do you go out and get it anyway, providing it is a decent price?

Call them and you can usually get results. They have told me in the past if I don't receive it by such a date, to call and they will reissue it. Then I have always received it. |

I did the Walgreens rebate for the first time last month. I know its probably not time for me to know anything yet. However I was wanting to know how long it normally takes. This way I will know when to look for something in the mail.

The first rebate usually takes a little longer than subsequent ones (if you chose the gift card option). the first one is usually around 4 weeks and then the subsequent refills to your gift card are around 2 weeks or so.
