See previous post for # diapers per pack.

For comparison to Costco:
Costco huggies wipes are 2.5 cents/wipe
Costco kirkland wipes are 2.2 cents/wipe

Costco huggies diapers are (by size)(1/2: 13.8, 3: 18.7, 4: 20.9, 5: 23.78, 6: 29.06) cents/diaper
Costco pullups are 31.2 cents/diaper
Costco kirkland diapers are (3: 16.3, 4: 18.7, 5: 21.4) cents/diaper

Sams' Club:
$12.47 for 720 generic wipes. (1.73 cents/wipe)
Huggies wipes at Sams are $13.88 for 624 wipes. (2.2 cents/wipe)

If you have a coupon, divide the coupon value by the number of diapers in the pack and subtract that from the price per diaper and that will give you the price per diaper with the coupon:
example:
Pullups 3T mega size are $14.04. You have a $2.00 coupon. Price per diaper is 35.1 cents/diaper from above. $2.00/40 diapers in pack is 5 cents off per diaper, so new price with coupon is 30.1 cents/diaper.

It has been suggested that on a sale, try to aim for 15 cents/diaper after sale and coupon. As you can see from regular prices, that is easier with smaller sized diapers, but possible with all. Clearances and big sales happen - stock up! Your aiming price will depend on your brand preference and size needed though. Keep that it mind as well.

Feb 06: My new general rule of thumb (for generics & clearance sales)
Size 1, 2 diapers - keep it around 10 cents or less a diaper
Size N, 3 or 4 diapers - keep it under 15 cents a diaper
Size 5 or 2t - keep it under 20 cents
size 6 or 3t, 4t training pants - aim for 25 cents

Nov 06:
Okay, its been about 9 months since I started watching and posting sales on baby diapers & such and here's some price points that I have in my head that I use to kinda base what I put in bold in the weekly list:

For Huggies/Pampers: $7 a jumbo pack at most after coupons (12.5 - 26.9 cents/diaper)
For Luvs/Generics: $6 " " (10.7 - 23 cents/diaper)

For Huggies/Pampers: $11 a mega pack after coupons (13 - 27.5 cents/diaper)
For Luvs/generics: $10 " " (11.9 - 25 cents/diaper)

For Huggies/Pampers: $15 a super mega pack at most after coupons (13.4 - 28.8 cents/diaper)
For Luvs/generics: $13 " " (11.6 - 25 cents/diaper)

For Huggies/Pampers: $18 a value box at most after coupons (15 - 22.5 cents/diaper)
For Luvs/generics: $16 " " (13.3 - 20 cents/diaper)

Basically though: A mega is 1.5 times a jumbo, and a Super mega is 2 times a jumbo pack in size. A box is 3 times a jumbo pack.

This doesn't work out exactly, its just a rule of thumb, price point wise that would be $7 a jumbo, $10.50 a mega, $14 a supermega and $21 a box for the names and $6, $9, $12 and $18 for generic But I haven't seen supermegas name brand that low and boxes go lower than that. So it depends on the size of diaper you are buying as well.

You will always get the most off per diaper with a coupon on the smallest pack which is why the prices per pack are generally best there. But sales on the smallest pack are rare. The sale we saw last week on Huggies and 2 weeks ago on Pampers at Target was something I haven't seen in about 6 months (I think). So you stock up on great prices and then buy the best price for that week or month when you are low. This obviously doesn't include the occasional rebate deals at Walgreens.

For wipes: Aim for 1.7 cents a wipe on name brand but if its on sale for 2 cents a wipe, thats awesome. On generics, stick to 1 cent/wipe at most.

For formula - generics aim for less than 60 cents/oz on powder, name brand, aim for 77 cents/oz on powder.

For baby food: 30 cents a jar stage 1 (don't buy too many there, its just a smaller version of some stage 2) 33 cents a jar for stage 2, and 44 cents a jar on stage 3

Are we only allowed to use one formula check per purchase, or can we combine them because they're checks, & not coupons? I have ALWAYS been confuzzled on this.

I have not tried to use more than one check per can, but I don't think most cashiers would let you. I have actually even had a problem buying two cans during the same transaction with two checks (one per can.) The cashiers will tell me that I can only buy one can of formula at a time because it says "one per purchase". I didn't argue it. I just bought one at a time. This happened at Walmart.

Default Wic

I wanted to highlight something that was already stated, but if anyone here is on WIC and are still in the "formula" stage - get your stuff at Smith's. At least every other month you get the $10 reward certificate. Pretty handy to use on baby jar foods!

I used to use Huggies exclusively but we decided to try the Costco Kirkland brand once. I love them and have used them ever since. They are pretty much the same. You get about 20 more diapers for the same price as the Huggies brand. I gave the Sam's Club Smiles brand a try and we hated them. We had four leaks in the two days we used them. My husband said "no more cheap diapers!!"

Default Parent's Choice

I use Parent's Choice diapers from Walmart because they are the cheapest out there. Even with sales and coupons I have never beat their price before with the name brands. I don't have any problems with them at all, but maybe I'm just a lucky mom? I know my friends that use Huggies swear by them, but I'm just not willing to pay more for something that my daughter just soils and I throw it away. (I buy cheap trash bags too, basically the same type of reason.) Anyway, if you are used to the Macey's brand, I don't think these will be too disappointing. Also, Albertsons does occasionally put their brand on sale, and I think theirs are pretty good as well.

IMHO It's going to depend on the wording on the check. Some formula checks are more like coupons and some are more like real checks. But generally I'd say yes - checks are different from coupons. Just read the wording carefully on both!
