I have been a thrift store shopper for several years. As far back as I can remember actually… When I was a teenager, although I enjoyed shopping there, I would have been so embarrassed if one of my friends saw me there. Apparently, this thinking has changed for a lot of teenagers recently.
I have talked to several parents whose teenagers actually enjoy shopping second hand. I think that in this economy even some teenagers are noticing the money that they can save by shopping second hand. Most thrift shops are a bit picky as to what they sell, I have bought my kids some used stuff that is in excellent condition recently.
In my area we have a few thrift store options: Savers, Deseret Industries, The Salvation Army, Kid to Kid, a few consignment shops, and also Plato’s Closet.
If you are struggling to purchase name brand school clothes for your teens, check out Plato’s Closet. They only sell name brand clothing. Seriously you can buy the jeans that are $60 in the trendy mall stores for less that $20!
Consider thrift stores for other needs to. Home decor and housewares are also found at great prices at thrift stores.
