Dumping Cable

XboxAs my children were growing up, we never had cable television. Then, a few years ago, both of my kids moved out (yes, the same year! *sniff*). When they left, we decided to get cable. Some kind of midlife crisis or something, I don’t know.
.
Well, we’ve decided that the price of cable is just too high with all of the other options out there. With our Xbox 360* we can access Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Instant. The three of these put together are still far cheaper than Cable and will cover more than enough entertainment for our family.

.

If you watch television shows, what method do you use? Are you a Roku lover? Do you just watch on your computer, iPad or other device? Do you hook your computer to your tv? Do you still have cable? What works best for you?

.

My daughter lives at home again and she says as long as she can watch Dr. Who, she will live through the transition.

  1. We now have a Google TV, which can access a lot of the internet–with the exception of Hulu and the major networks. That problem can be overcome by subscribing to Playon (4.99 a month), which can push content from your regular computer to your TV, Wii, and such. Using that, we can watch regular Hulu (the free version), CBS, and some other sites on our TV. You can also buy a Google TV box to allow any TV to browse the internet for about $100 at Best Buy. We also watch a lot of streaming Netflix and some Amazon Prime.

  2. Love my Roku box! It streams Netflix, and a lot of other internet channels.
