Imaging? MRI? Radiology?

Howdy,
I might be referred for an MRI. I have a relatively high deductible and would be paying the entire thing out of pocket. Has anyone gone to Mountain Medical or a similar outside of hospital imaging center? Any idea what the cost of a back MRI would be? (it's low back issues, possibly SI joint, possibly issues with piriformis muscle). I've been through PT, chiropractor, my regular doctor, lumbar xrays, muscle relaxers (2 types), and prednisone (steroids). Nothing has helped.
ANyway....thoughts?
TIA!
:)

IHC will give you a 40% discount if you pay cash up front. They can give you the discounted rate over the phone if you call and know exactly what test you need.

I went to Mountain Medical a few years ago for a brain MRI. I know they were cheaper than the hospitals but I don't remember by how much. I also have a high deductible and ended up paying the full amount.

In case anyone is wondering, Open Imaging in Layton was cheapest at $450 cash for lumbar mri, ogden regional bills insurance $3800. But cash price was $550 ish. (Don't remember exact right now).
The price discrepancies are appalling!

keep in mind

You have to keep in mind that not all MRI machines take the same quality picture. Open Imaging doesn't have a great quality machine and the pictures are not as good for diagnosing.
