ISO: Good Brand of Agave Nectar
DH and I are thinking of switching over to AGAVE Nectar.

What are pros/cons? What would a good brand be? Are there certain standards I need to look for? Thanks!

I have used agave nectar in the past, but rarely use it anymore. I'm trying to get away from highly processed foods. I've also read that it can make your blood sugar levels spike more than was first realized.

Agave nectar has had one heck of a marketing campaign behind it, but for all the hype it really is not that good for you. It is highly processed. It is mostly Fructose (which is processed by the liver, and is directly stored as fat - our body does not use fructose for energy, it uses glucose). Really it is not that different from High Fructose Corn Syrup. If you are looking to switch to a healthier sweetener, I recommend Stevia. I'm not a dietitian, this is just from research that I've done as I've tried to healthify our diet. :)
