My hand opener works. Maybe yours is a little dull.

I have an Oxo Good Grips hand can opener that works great on the #10's.
We had an electric opener at our last house that I used for all my regular cans, and when we moved, I thought I would miss it. But the Oxo opener works so well I don't miss the old electric one at all! My electric one would always jam 3/4 of the way around the #10 cans - always. I think the cans are just too heavy and bulky for the electric openers to do very well.

I have a hand opener that opens the cans on the seal and it works great on #10 cans. (Plus you have safe cans that can be used for something else with the plastic lid later.)

I use my regular electric can opener, I just move it to the edge of the counter and hold under the #10 can. Works great!

I literally went through four different can openers this week to open a can of wheat. Maybe it was partly the can??? I tried my one that separates the seal, a handheld electric one, a regular hand one, and a regular electric one. I finally had to use a butter knife to pry up the lid on the one side I'd been able to open so I could pour the wheat out into a bowl.
It shouldn't be that hard!!! |

I have to turn my number 10 cans upside down. Then it seems any can opener will work

I have the Pampered Chef hand opener and love it for #10 cans.
