I am giving hot chocolate in a can that the kids are decorating.

I used one of those can openers that takes the tab type lid off without damaging it. Poured out the soup, washed and dried it, then put hot chocolate in it and glued the lid back on. The kids are decorating the wrapper that goes around it and adding little tags to the tab. I used the hot chocolate from the LDS cannery.

I was reading that a teacher's #1 gift received are gift cards, especially to restaurants/fast food joints. They don't get paid a whole lot so they don't get to eat out very often. As to the amount is your own discretion....but I think it depends on the restaurant. You can't expect to get a meal for $5 at a steak house but it would be great for cafe rio or McD's.

I used to do a papa Murphy's and a Hollywood video gift certificate- a night in, ya know. But technology has rendered my gift obsolete- who goes ot video stores anymore.
So this year- homemade bread with a Roxbury gift card for the younger kids teachers. (I know them all well, so I know they'd feel safe with food from me. But that's not the case with everyone, so if you're planning on doing that- just be aware that your gift might end up in the trash.)

For Jr. High teachers- Jimmy Johns gift cards. They never get remembered like the elementary school teachers do.

I end up spending about $100 on 12 different teachers. But it is money well spent, IMO.

You might want to check with the school and make sure she's allowed to have one in her room. Our school banned them this year. So many teachers had small refrigerators, microwaves, coffee pots and even toasters in their rooms.
