Default a good one-liner

I need a good one-liner for the impatient people behind me in the check-out line. Maybe something said out of love and understanding that would calm the nerves of any irrational or bothered customer that doesn't want to wait any longer.

Case in point:
Impatient customer standing behind me in line-
"I was a young man when I came to this line. Now I am a senior citizen!"
Me wanting to take care of business but still sound calm and patient-
"At least senior citizens get a discount "

I am looking for something that may cover a multitude of situations. Any ideas?

I just ignore. No point in saying anything to someone who is annoyed behind you. It's their problem, not yours. lol

This is why we need PYP jackets/hoodies that say on the back

"Dont get behind me at checkout- I use COUPONS"

I once had a cartfull of groceries, handfulls of coupons, and the lady behind me only had 1 item. (they had already started ringing me up or id let her go ahead) She kept making "c'mon already" "sheesh this always happens" etc comments not-so-under-her-breathe. She then said "this is so dumb" so I said:
"Dumb is paying full price for that item, I just got it 75% off"

hahahaha

Why say anything to them at all? You are not doing anything immoral or illegal. I'd just ignore the impatient person. If anything, I'd turn around and smile at him or her. As long as you aren't in the express lane with more than the "suggested" number of items, it's your turn at the cash register.
(P.S. Some people aren't happy unless they are complaining or finding fault with something.) Let it go.

I would appreciate it if someone told me they have lots of coupons or if they know this particular cashier is slow.
Did the cashier say why you can't warn people and leave it up to themselves whether to stay in the cashier's line or move to another?

If the customer behind me only has one item and cashier has already started my order I have been known to "pay" for the customers item so they can do not have to wait. Typical customer teenager/ college buying water, candy bar.
They are shocked and accept the offer and I always remind them topay it forward some day.
