The fels-naptha totally over powers the grapefruit smell. Just adds extra steps.

Yes we use a food processor,I have an older one I could sell for $10 if you want it, or you could use a grater it just takes longer. I've tried the liquid and it is a pain in the butt to make and use, the non liquid is much easier to make and use and store for that matter. Just my opinion.

if I use only cold water in the washer would using the powder detergent be alright to use? It would definatley be easier to make powder but if it's not going to dissolve in the cold wash I'd be better off doing the liquid versions.Anyone have any experience with this?

I heard that it needed hot water so I start the wash on hot until there are a few cups in the bowl and pour the soap in to dissolve, then fill the rest on cold. You could also get hot tap water in a cup then dissolve the soap in that first.

Maybe the recipe they use is on their website.

I totally watched that episode and have been meaning to check out their soap recipe! LOL. That show is fun to watch.

Where would you find Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda? What about Borax? Are they easy to find, I wonder?

If you can't find washing soda you can call Arm and Hammer and they will sell it to you and mail it your home.I think it's something like only 13% of retailers that actualy carry the washing soda so it can be hard to find.Borax you can find at Walmart, even our local grocers here have them so that shouldn't be an issue for you to find.
