Default decorating christmas cookies

Usually we put the colored sugar & sprinkles on before baking, but I want to try decorating the cookies after baking this time for a less messy result. Anyone know how to do this without using frosting or icing? tia

I have never had good results without icing after baking. Sorry. I hope someone else is more in the know....

We got some from a neighbor last night & she did different designs with what looked like Karo syrup. They were really cute.

you can buy food markers and draw designs on them. you can also buy cookie stamps, where you stamp (impress) a design on them, but that would be before baking.
