Heating Pad/Ice Pack – Make your own!

.
When my children were young they were always coming in with boo-boos. I kept homemade ice packs in the freezer for them. To make them, you just mix 2 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol and add a little food coloring (let your child choose their favorite!). Pour the mixture into a freezer bag and freeze. These make a nice slushy ice pack. It’s always a good idea to double bag them – just in case!
.
To make my own homemade heating pad for aches and pains, I simply fill a sock with rice and put a rubber band around the top. Heat in the microwave for about 1 minute. Sock sizes and microwaves vary so just heat and check until you find the right time for you!
