Transform a bulletin board

Have you ever wanted to make something but don’t want to spendy extra money? I love crafting with what I already have on hand. I see it as a personal challenge to myself. Awhile ago, I saw this old cork board that used to be in my boys room (now my boys have IKEA magnet boards in their room to hang things up.) I decided to alter the corkboard for my little scrapbook/craft nook that I have in our bedroom behind our door.

I painted the edges with acrylic craft paint. (I didn’t want to take the time to sand before I painted, so I didn’t rough it up afterwards.) You can also put on a shiny finish if you want. I have these super cute felt flowers by American Crafts that I have been wanting to use for something, so I just took some ribbon, a stapler, the flowers and buttons and got to work. I think the end result is adorable! I love it! I plan on hanging it on the wall to the side of my desk.

What craft projects have you made with items you already have?

  1. When my husband was unemployed, I started jonesing after some really cute 4th of July wreaths I saw around. They were made with small tin stars. I definitely couldn’t justify buying one at that time, and probably wouldn’t have shelled out for one even under better circumstances! So I got creative and made one out of cereal boxes and craft paint. I wish I’d made it bigger, but I still like my “garbage” wreath! Here are some pictures:
