Sometimes my citrus just doesn’t get eaten as quickly as it should before it starts to go bad. Well….don’t throw it out! You can still use it.
This is one thing I like to use it for. Slice it up and place several slices in a small microwavable bowl with water.
Put on high for two minutes or so until it is nice and steamy. It will not only get the hard gunk soft so you can clean your microwave, (just wipe with a rag at this point…so easy!) but it will deodorize and smell nice in the process!
How do you use citrus that has started to go bad?

I fill a pot with water, cut them into slices, add a cinnamon stick and simmer. It makes the house smell really good. Plus, you can reuse it for quite a few days.

You can slice it and put it down your garbage disposal to clean and deodorize it. Just make sure you run plenty of water as you turn on your disposal.
