Yesterday we talked about how much I love wrapping presents! I told you that I really do think it is so much fun. I love cute wrapping paper, pretty bows and fun gift tags. I love finding just the right paper to wrap everything in each year. Even though I love wrapping paper I sometimes think about all of other ways to wrap presents. I told you how I started thinking about DIY wrapping paper and saw SO many ideas. There are some really fun things you can do to make DIY wrapping paper. Some of my favorite ideas involved wrapping in butcher or kraft paper. Using butcher or kraft paper is a common DIY wrapping paper idea. The clean looking paper goes with all sorts of bows and trimmings. You can decorate the paper or leave it plain. There are so many ideas of how to dress up butcher or kraft paper. Here are just a few of my favorites.
Leave it plain
Butcher or kraft paper used as wrapping paper can look amazing left plain. The plain paper leaves so much room for fancy trimmings and bows. I love butcher or kraft paper tied with fancy ribbons. It also looks great tied with tule, string, fabric, almost anything. It looks great with something fun tied on the bow too.
Paint footprints or handprints
I love this one! Use poster or craft paint and make footprints or handprints on the butcher or kraft paper. For Christmas you can use red and green paint to make it more festive. It looks super cute!
Paint scenes or designs
For the more talented artists, butcher or kraft paper looks great with scenes and pictures painted on it. I have seen some awesome wrapping paper done this way. You can also stamp on designs and patterns with paint. Go crazy and do stripes, plaid or polka dots. Super fun!
Doodle
Butcher or kraft paper looks great with doodles drawn on it. Even semi talented artists can create super cute wrapping paper with butcher or kraft paper. I’ve seen really great looking things drawn with Sharpie markers. Even fun patterns and designs look great when drawn on butcher or kraft paper.
Kids color or paint
This is another really fun idea for making wrapping paper with butcher or kraft paper. Give the kids crayons, markers, paints, whatever and let them decorate the paper. This paper is very cute and so much fun for the recipient.
Use stickers
There are so many fun stickers that don’t cost much at all. Dollar and discount stores are a great place to find inexpensive fun stickers. This is also a great way to personalize the butcher or kraft paper with a child’s favorite character or a person’s favorite theme or destination. So much fun!
Glue on fabric shapes
This idea is a lot like using stickers but it can be even more fun! Use fabric and cut out shapes and designs to glue on. Things like flowers look great when made this way. I’m thinking using fabric to make a poinsettia on butcher or kraft paper would look amazing for Christmas.
Glue on flowers
I’ve seen really cute butcher or kraft paper packages decorates with glued on flowers. You can use real or artificial flowers. It looks great and very festive!

Comic strips
Using comic strips from the newspaper or comic books can be a very cute way to wrap your holiday gifts. This is especially fun when the recipient of the gift like comics or certain characters from the comic strips. This is a very cute DIY wrapping paper idea.
Maps
Using a map to wrap a gift is a very clever DIY wrapping paper idea. Maps can be colorful and fun and a very classy idea. Think about using maps for the recipient’s favorite place or vacation spot. Use maps that will be a reminder of a destination.
