Groundhog Day Celebration

Hooray! Groundhog Day is coming! I know it may seem strange to some of you, but this is a holiday I enjoy celebrating. If you want to have a nice celebration of this unusual holiday, here are some ideas I’ve come across over the years.
.

MENU – You can have meatballs for dinner. You know – “ground hog.” I know, I know… but it is kinda funny, right?

.

THE DESSERT – Just make and frost a cake and then sprinkle cookie crumbs on top (for the dirt). You can make a paper groundhog using this cute pattern (or use google images to find another that you like) and then just let a child color him, glue him to a popsicle stick and stick him in your cake. You could do cupcakes and let each child color their own groundhog! There is also this really cute cupcake idea from Family Fun.

.

DRESS CODE – Have each person dress for their personal prediction. If they think it will be six more weeks of winter, have them dress bundled up for winter and if they think it will be an early spring, have them dress with sunglasses and beach attire. They don’t have to agree with the groundhog!

.

ENTERTAINMENT – And now we come to the main reason I celebrate Groundhog Day. I LOVE the movie! Groundhog Day, with Bill Murray is one of my favorite movies. It’s available from Amazon Instant Video! We watch it every year.

My husband says he feels like he’s stuck in some sort of Groundhog Day Party Loop. He could be right!
