#1 Open Pores

Boil some water and pour into a bowl. Cover your head with a towel so that your face is over the steam. You can add lavender or another herb to the water for a nice spa feel.

#2 Cleanse

A good facial scrub is salt. Before you scrub your face, open your pores by either using a warm/hot washcloth pressed against your face or by using the boiling water method above. Once your pores are open, simply wet your hands and sprinkle salt on them. Rub the salt on your face and then rinse thoroughly. You can also use an inexpensive beauty cream (Ponds or some other) – a little dab on your palm – with salt to make it easier to spread around on your face. Use only about once a week.

For an everyday cleanser you can use salt water. About 1 C of water to 1 teaspoon of salt.

#3 Tone

Put lemon juice on your face at night to block open pores. This will help pores stay closed, reduce oily secretion and reduce the size of your pores.

In place of lemon juice, you can use cucumber. Blend it with water and a little honey and apply to your face after cleansing at night.

Egg whites make great face masks. After cleansing your face you can simply separate an egg and rub the egg white all over your face. You will let this dry for about 15 minutes – you will really feel the tightening. This does NOT peel off. You will have to rinse with warm water. You can do this about once/week.

Pimple? Put a dab of toothpaste (paste not gel) or calamine lotion on it at night! Be sure to drink plenty of water to keep your skin clean from the inside out.

*Always make sure to put moisture back into your face after cleansing/toning.
