The founder of Stride Rite, Jacob A. ”J.A.” Slosberg, started working in the shoe industry in 1892. In 1919, he set up his own company in a converted stable in Boston along with his partner Philip Green. In 1933, they purchased the name Stride Rite, and the brand’s rich history (along with Slosberg’s more than 60-year career) is evident in every product they make.
