Here are some of the deals, coupons, and freebies that we’ve posted about since yesterday…
Standard Shipping On 1 Placemat: $5.99
This $5.00 off any two Almay Cosmetic Products was around for a little bit yesterday, but quickly disappeared. Today, it has reset, and it now specifically includes makeup removers.
Smal jars of makeup removers (15 count) sell for $1.14 at Walmart, which means you could have a $2.72 money maker with each $5.00 off any two Almay Cosmetic Products you’re able to print.
This might print with an ad at the bottom of the page, though. Thanks for the heads up, Common Sense With Money!
It’s 2014 and chances are, you made a New Year’s Resolution back in December or January. It seems like 9 out of 10 people make the resolution to get healthy or reach their fitness goals. It could be anything from quitting smoking to losing a few extra pounds to get ready for a beach vacation. If you’re one of the people who vowed to get in shape this year, you’ve probably though about protein and the craze surrounding it. Ask anyone that works out and they’ll probably recommend that you drink plenty of water, eat clean, and get the right amount of protein. Well, we have a few recommendations for you as to how you can get your protein fix without spending hundreds of dollars on stuff like Muscle Milk. Ready?
Milk
Milk gets a pretty bad rep these days and we’re not exactly sure why. Most people will tell you to avoid dairy products completely when trying to lose weight but we don’t agree. One serving of dairy a day won’t kill you and a glass of milk packs around 12 grams of protein. Of course, this is assuming you drink whole milk and aren’t drinking it out of a dixie cup. You also probably already have milk in your home right now which is great!
Almonds
Instead of snacking on potato chips in front of the TV in the evening, try about a dozen almonds. They’re packed with protein, are heart healthy, and come in some amazing flavors. We absolutely love Blue Diamond almonds which come in flavors such as coconut and wasabi which is great for those of you that like a little kick and punch with your food.
Peanut Butter
Although this is a “slow digesting” form of protein, it’s still great considering how cheap it is and how full it will make you. Grab a butter knife and eat a big gob of peanut butter on one of your workout days or if you’re feeling hungry right before bed. Do you absolutely have to have your peanut butter sandwich fix? Try it with two slices of wheat bread!
Egg Whites
Finally, we come to egg whites. You can buy these in a carton already prepared or simply do it yourself. Either way, it’s a delicious and affordable source of protein. The only reason we recommend cutting out the yolk is because a lot of people eat eggs daily and you don’t want all that extra cholesterol in your diet but eating them here and there is 100% fine.
So, there you have it. These are just a few of our favorite cheap sources of protein. If none of these appeal to you, you could always try things like beef jerky, tofu, or anything else that fits your budget. As long as you can get 15 to 20 grams of protein from something, you should be more than fine. As always, be sure to pinch those pennies and save money!

It’s been a pretty busy week, but I’ve had to make a couple different trips to the store to pick up some items for the kids’ lunches and a few other necessities. I was a little proud of myself, since I got almost $130 worth of stuff for less than $20, including 44 free items! Yee HAW!
Of course, I’m counting the Catalina coupons and GasPoints I earned, which are worth their weight in gold to me!
Here’s a real quick rundown:
Walmart
Tops Markets (2 trips)
I really went hog wild the last couple of weeks on the GasPoint deals at this particular store, since it’s the last week I can earn them for a couple of weeks. The final tally was $2.60 off per gallon, which means I’ll only pay about $1 per gallon. Golly, I feel like I’m in high school again!
Usually when I do this, I’ll fill up the tank in the Jeep as well as a gas can or two for the lawn mower. Hey, I’ve gotta get my money’s worth! Gas is expensive these days!

Having fun with your family is something that isn’t done enough in this day and age. Some of that could be due to budget restraints, lack of time, or simply because you don’t know what to do with your family that will be fun for everyone. Fortunately, we’ve got that under control and have came up with a few ideas for you that are both fun and affordable.
If you’re ready to get started and are anxious to check out these cheap ways to have fun, scroll down and take a look. We are pretty sure that you’re going to dig this list a lot!
Board Games
While board games do cost money, it’s pretty much a one time investment as long as you don’t lose any of the pieces or trash the game. Some good places to start are with games like Monopoly, Sorry, Trouble, UNO (which isn’t technically a board game), or CLUE. Games like these are sure to keep you entertained for years and years to come. We love them!
Walking
Yes, you read that right. This one is absolutely free and most cities have a track that is open to the public at all hours. It’s a great way for you and your family to get out, stay healthy, and unwind. It also makes for some very good conversation between everyone.
Dinner And A Movie
You have to fix dinner anyways so why not make it a family effort? Whip out your family’s favorite movie (maybe something like Jurassic Park) and watch it over dinner. Feel free to joke around, make fun of the movie, and have a blast for the next 2 hours. It’s amazing!
Telescope
This, much like board games, is a one time investment. This could be a hit or miss but we think nearly anyone in the world would enjoy using a telescope as long as they take a honest interest in it. While a good telescope could run you hundreds or thousands of dollars, what you need should be under $100. Give it a try and see what you think about it.
Read
If you have a local library (why wouldn’t you?) then you may consider setting some time aside to read with your family. It doesn’t even have to be the same book. Everyone can lounge in the same room and enjoy their favorite (or current) book for about an hour or so. It’s also a great way to get good book recommendations and exercise your brain as well.
So, the next time you and your family get bored, refer to this list and pick something. It doesn’t matter if it’s reading a book, watching a movie over dinner, or simply going for a brisk walk. There is always something that you can do that is both fun and affordable. After all, it’s all about pinching your pennies, saving money, having a good time, and coming up with new ways to make your day better. Believe us, we all do at least one of these things!
