Oh, how I loved soft boiled eggs. Seriously. Love. Them.
The problem I have with soft boiling eggs is the same problem I have with hard boiling eggs – sometimes the shells don’t peel away nicely. And I hate ruining my perfectly cooked eggs!
I have read a lot of ideas on how to prevent the egg from breaking – use older eggs (or let them sit out on the counter), roll it around before peeling it, slide a teaspoon under the shell – or, the craziest of all, blow the shell off!
I have tried multiple things to help with the peeling of my eggs, but only ONE has worked consistently… POKE THE EGG before you put it in the water. That’s it. Purchase a nifty egg piercer and poke your eggs before putting them in the water. Works every time. Every time. And, bonus – it works for hard boiled eggs as well (good for all those deviled eggs for summer picnics!). You can use a corn holder, but you may ruin a few eggs that way.
Here’s how I do my PERFECT soft boiled eggs (you may need to add time if you live higher than 4500 ft elevation or subtract time for lower than 4500 ft).
Put salted water on to boil. Poke your eggs. Put them into the boiling water. Cook for 7 minutes. Put eggs immediately into cold water to stop the cooking process.
Peel and eat!
If you want to be really fancy, you can eat them from an egg cup – but you don’t need to snip the top off and eat them that way when you can so easily peel them.

I am not a seamstress, but I found an easy skirt tutorial online and made a few skirts for my daughter with fabric I already had on hand at home. This tutorial is really extremely easy, and fast too! I made her 3 skirts and I estimate it cost me less than $1 per skirt. All you need is elastic, ribbon for the bottom, and fabric. Aren’t they so cute?
If your daughter is wanting some summer skirts, try this instead of buying a new one at the store. Pinch those pennies!

Have you ever wanted to make something but don’t want to spendy extra money? I love crafting with what I already have on hand. I see it as a personal challenge to myself. Awhile ago, I saw this old cork board that used to be in my boys room (now my boys have IKEA magnet boards in their room to hang things up.) I decided to alter the corkboard for my little scrapbook/craft nook that I have in our bedroom behind our door.
I painted the edges with acrylic craft paint. (I didn’t want to take the time to sand before I painted, so I didn’t rough it up afterwards.) You can also put on a shiny finish if you want. I have these super cute felt flowers by American Crafts that I have been wanting to use for something, so I just took some ribbon, a stapler, the flowers and buttons and got to work. I think the end result is adorable! I love it! I plan on hanging it on the wall to the side of my desk.
What craft projects have you made with items you already have?
