One of the most delicate and sometimes painful battles some people have to go through is probably the divorce battle. Some people play nice while others can turn out to be ruthless when it comes to divorce battles. The divorce can be an ugly scene, depending on many aspects.

You need to have in mind that you can’t win all battles that have to do with your divorce. Pick the most important battles to you and do your best to win them. You don’t like any unnecessary drama so leave the other things that aren’t important to your ex.

Be Prepared for Everything

You know your soon to be ex-spouse the best so if you know he or she is going to play dirty, try not to let anger rule you over. You know that your ex will try to paint a portrait made of lies so combat the lies using the truth, using witnesses, using everything that is in your powers.

If You Have Kids…

You know there will be a custody battle. The judge usually lets the mother have the child, but if the mother is in no conditions to take care of the child prove that. Try to be polite and respectful because your kids shouldn’t see the messy side of a divorce battle. The judge will also allow the kid to tell his side of the story. If you’re a mother and your soon to be ex-husband is trying to spread lies about your character just to take the kids away from you, hold your head high because you know better who you are and what you do. You also have witnesses that can support the fact that you’re a wonderful mom so let your ex-husband keep on acting immature and disrespectful. You’re above this sort of behavior.

Dibs on…Different Things

Depending on what sort of investments you have made, what sorts of loans you have, if you signed a prenup or not, you might end up fighting over pieces of furniture, memorabilia or different art collections. If you’re fighting over the house, if you can, sell it and split the money in half. Would you really want to live in a place that constantly reminds you of a relationship that didn’t end well? Start all over again; you can do it and it will definitely make you feel stronger. All of these things are material; as long as you have the kids or the pets, you will be the one who’s richer and happier.

There Is…no Winner

This isn’t a competition or even a battle. You are two consenting adults who have arrived at the conclusion that your marriage is over. There is no winner and there is no loser here. You will both start a new, hopefully happier life and the kids will be happier, too because they won’t have to deal with tension and arguments between their parents. Everything will work out in the end, but the process of adjusting to this new stage in your life can be confusing.
