Quick & Delicious Bread: Irish Soda Bread!

If you are looking for a quick homemade bread with delicious flavor, you should definitely try Irish Soda Bread. This recipe is so simple and inexpensive but the results are bakery delicious!

Ingredients: 4 C bread flour (I make my own bread flour by adding wheat gluten to my regular flour – 1 tablespoon for every cup); 1 tablespoon baking powder; 1 teaspoon salt; 3/4 teaspoon baking soda and 2 C buttermilk (I never have buttermilk on hand, so I use this powdered buttermilk – works great!)

Instructions: Combine dry ingredients. Add buttermilk. Stir until it becomes a dough and then turn onto floured surface and knead for about a minute. You can add nuts, seeds, fruit, etc. if you want.

Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a ball. Place the two balls onto a greased cookie sheet. Cut an X on the top of each loaf using a sharp knife (1/2″ deep). Bake at 350* for 50-55 minutes. Bread is done when you can stick a knife in the middle of a loaf and it comes out clean. Let cool on baking racks.
