You Should Start Your Christmas Shopping Now, Here’s Why!

Ok, guys. It is time for a pep talk! I know that we still haven’t had Halloween or even Thanksgiving yet, but right now is the absolute best time to get a start on your Christmas shopping. It may seem crazy if in the past you haven’t started until Black Friday. But right now is when you will see retailers clearancing out perfectly good toys, clothing, electronics and more to get ready for the big shipments of new stuff that is being sent to their stores. Plus with the shipping issues that have been going on, you don’t want to be stuck running around trying to find those last minute items your kids have been asking for.

And once we pass Halloween, a lot of stores actually raise up their prices on just about everything and slash a few things for Black Friday. Remember, everything is a supply and demand thing!

This is what I recommend for not only getting your shopping done super early this year, but also cutting out all of the stress it involves. Can you imagine being done with your shopping by November and actually enjoying the Holidays for once? Now that would be great! 🙂

A Few Tips:

1- Have your Kids Make Their Christmas Wish Lists Now. Tell them Santa needs a head start this year. 😉 I know the TV commercials haven’t started yet for all of the new and cool toys. But, if you have a list started, you can get most of the things on the list now and if they add to it later, you will only have to pick up one or two things to finish their shopping.

2- Find a good stashing place in your home. If you have a place or a few places where you can put gifts without your kids finding them, it is ideal. Then, you will have no problems purchasing Christmas ahead of time and not ruining the surprise. A few ideas we have done in the past, used a trusted neighbor (she’s the Grandma of our neighborhood) to store and even ship some of our packages too. We have also stored some in our trailer in years past.

3- Once you have the Christmas Wish Lists, do some searching online and see a base retail price for what that item normally costs. (This is probably the most important step to make sure you don’t spend more than you should. It’s all about getting the best deal right??) That way, when a really HOT price comes along online- or maybe it is even a deal that I post about, you can see that it truly is one to jump on immediately because you know how much it normally costs!

4- Try to complete most of your shopping list before November. That way you can enjoy Thanksgiving. On Black Friday, you can pick up a few of those HOT items that might be on your family’s lists. If there aren’t any, congrats you should be done!!

5- If there are certain brands or companies that you family wants items from, sign up for their email newsletters which normally have coupon codes and free shipping codes sent out in them. Also, “like” them on Facebook, if you have a Facebook account. And Instagram. Many companies are doing special deals for their Fans only.

6- Another great thing about getting your shopping done in advance is that because you will have proportioned your money over a few months instead of just one, you should have money available to participate in all of the great Christmas services projects. Get your family in the spirit of Christmas by helping others!! (And by stocking up on great deals now, you will even be able to get killer deals on Toys to donate to ToysforTots!!)

I know this task of starting now can be daunting. But I promise, you will be so happy later when you are done super early and you can actually enjoy yourself and the Holidays!

Surprisingly Awesome Places to Shop for Stocking Stuffers & Christmas gifts

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?  I have gotten all of my nieces and nephews shopped for, which is a nice relief, but I do still need to shop for my kids and my hubby.  We all know that I am a bit of a cheapskate, and this doesn’t change during the holidays. That’s why I thought I would chat a little bit about some surprisingly awesome places to shop for stocking stuffers and Christmas gifts.  No one likes to be stuck in line at the mall, right?

Surprisingly Awesome Places to Shop for Stocking Stuffers & Christmas gifts

Rite Aid – Rite Aid is awesome for buying makeup, nail polish and other beauty and bath items. Those of this stuff is awesome for stockings. Plus, Rite Aid has some seriously awesome clearance deals so keep an eye out for those bright yellow tags that show 25%-75% off.

Walgreens – Walgreens is just about my favorite place to coupon for makeup, razors, beauty products, etc.  Check this site often for sweet coupon deals and you can score them too. These are always good to put into stockings.

Grocery stores – So many awesome candy bar deals can be found at the grocery store.  Also, be sure to check the clearance rack here too because there is often super cheap makeup, lotions, etc.  I often even find toys at my local Safeway clearance.

Goodwill – Crazy, right?  I know everyone doesn’t like to buy second hand gift for Christmas.  My family and I don’t mind at all, but that’s not why I mentioned it.  I mentioned it because at many Goodwill stores, they sell Target overstock items.  That means brand spanking stuff at a fraction of the price. I cannot tell you how many times I have scored rock bottom prices shopping this way.

Amazon – Keep your eye on Amazon because they are always dropping prices crazy low and pretty much anything you might be shopping for.

More Sneaky Places to Find awesome deals on Christmas Gifts

Did you catch our list yesterday of sneaky places to find awesome deals on Christmas gifts?  We all know we can hop online to shop or go to your nearest big box store, but I am all about finding the best, uncommon places to find deals on Christmas gifts.

I like saving money and making my loved ones smile with good gifts and this is how I can do both!

  • Drug Stores.  If you have been following this site for long, you have seen plenty of awesome deals on razors, shave cream, hair products, etc.  These make EXCELLENT gifts! Don’t believe me? Gather all of these goodies and place them into a basket from the dollar store and you have an awesome spa-type gift basket that you spent very little on.
  • FB Marketplace.  Lots of people buy things that they never use and then forget to return them so they try to sell them on FB Marketplace.  A quick scroll of marketplace items will reveal some seriously good deals on new stuff!
  • Flea Markets.  Full disclosure.  I don’t love shopping at flea markets.  I don’t like it at all, but I fully acknowledge that you can find some seriously amazing deals on all kinds of items at flea markets.
  • Craft store.  Head to the craft store and check out their clearance items.  I have found some of my best deals ever there. Here is an idea of the deals I found at my local Michael’s last year at Christmas:
    • 5 Scentsy-type wax warmers – $1.49 each
    • 10 wax cute sets – $0.49 each
    • 4 Paint your own birdhouse kit – $1.29 each

Do you have any other awesome ideas for places to find cheap gifts?  We would love to hea all about them! Let’s share, friends!

Hot online shopping is not limited to just 2 days of November though! Our Deal Finders are posting HOT deals everyday! I want to share a couple of links and tips with you to help you navigate Pinching Your Pennies a little easier:

Make sure you check out our Screaming Deals Online Forum. We post deals there throughout the day. Make sure you go back a few pages because there so many deals being posted right now that are valid for several days! We get more deals posted here than we can possibly post on Facebook or our blogs.

Another link I want to talk to you about is our Online Coupons & Codes page. Everyday, we post new online shopping codes there. You have a couple of search options there. You can select a store from our database, you can start typing the name of the store you are looking, our list is LONG and new stores are added all the time! After you find the store in the list, go ahead and hit the “Search” button. Your other option here is to search by Deal Type.
