If you’re just starting out and have no previous experience, a good starting point is to try and grasp the basic logic of development and how things work. Only then can you focus on learning specific languages and details, when you know you have a good basis to do so.

A thing that not a lot of people will tell you is that in the development world, practical experience is valued more than anything else. This is why, while you’re learning, it’s a great idea to try and work on mini-projects that don’t need to be too complex – just enough for you to demonstrate your skill set.
